JT named Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year

Justin Timberlake

Hasty Pudding, Harvard University’s very flamboyant theatrical group, recently announced Justin Timberlake as the recipient of their Man of the Year award. Every year, the all-male troupe honors a male and female celebrity and hosts a parade through Havard Square. This year’s female recipient is Anne Hathaway.

Local blogger Sam Baltrusis, reminds us on his blog Loaded Gun Boston, that JT stars in a partially-filmed-in-Boston movie, based on the creation of Facebook.

Slotted to receive the award on Friday, Feb. 5, the former *NSYNC performer joins actress Anne Hathaway as this year’s Harvard honoree. Both Timberlake and Hathaway have ties to all of the made-in-Boston film action. In the upcoming movie “The Social Network,” Timberlake plays Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became the founding president of Facebook.

Last year, while I was interning at boston.com, I got to cover the parade in which they honored actress Renee Zellweger (last year’s male winner was James Franc0). Click here to check out photos from last year’s scene.

If you can’t already tell from the slideshow, the parade is a lot of fun! All the members of Hasty Pudding, dressed in drag, take over Harvard Square and just make it one huge party. While Timberlake won’t be presented his award until February 5, Anne Hathaway’s parade will be this Thursday, Jan. 28 at 2:30 p.m. where she will ride around Cambridge in a convertible. If you have some down time this Thursday, I recommend you check out the scene. I guarantee you’ll have a good time.
